Let me guide you through the courtyards, hidden passageways, and gardens, as we uncover the captivating stories of imperial life at the Habsburg court.
Details of Your Private Guided City and Museum Tour:
Our private guided tour begins at the Michaelertor, the historic entrance to the Vienna Hofburg, which has been the center of power in Vienna since the 13th century. After a brief overview of the fascinating history of the Hofburg’s development, we will visit the Sisi Museum.
The Sisi Museum, dedicated to Empress Elisabeth of Austria, sheds light on the complex and often misunderstood life of the empress with an impressive collection of personal items such as dresses, jewelry, and letters, offering profound insights into her life.
Next, we will pass through the Imperial Apartments, providing unique glimpses into the "imperial everyday life". One of the highlights is the study of Emperor Franz Joseph I, which has been preserved in its original condition.
From there, we will head to Heroes' Square, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the “New Hofburg” wing.
We will continue through the former private garden of the imperial family, passing the Palm House and the Albertina. We’ll also see the former wedding church of the Habsburgs and admire the imposing baroque wing of the Hofburg.
Finally, we take a look into the courtyard of the Spanish Riding School, home to the Lipizzan stallions. With a bit of luck, we might even catch a glimpse of these noble horses as they are led to their daily training. The tour concludes at Michaelerplatz.
Throughout the private guided tour, you’ll not only learn about daily life at the court but also hear fascinating stories about the Habsburgs and the present-day use of the Hofburg.
My private guided tour of the Wiener Hofburg, the Sisi Museum, and the Imperial Apartments offers you a well-balanced mix of history, culture, and lively anecdotes, providing unforgettable insights into imperial Vienna.
